![]() That’s all, thank you so much for reading. Keeping Long Island is her third title release, and the first under her new book brand, Pepper Books. Courtney has been writing her whole life and focuses on Young Adult novels and Poetry Collections. Pillow Thoughts is a perfect book to read before going to bed, reading 1-3 pieces to hopefully give you some last-minute feels before you end the day.Ī huge thank you to Rafael The Royal Polar Bear Reads for letting me participate this blog tour and for providing me a review copy.Ĭourtney Peppernell is a best-selling LGBTQ author from Sydney, Australia. I think that this poetry collection would be a good recommendation to people who wants to read poetry books for the first time, it’s an okay book with easy-to-read yet heartfelt pieces that will make them want to read more. And when all’s said and done, that’s the person who lives your life. ![]() ![]() But you will always be enough for yourself. There will always be that person who you gave your whole heart to and it still wasn’t enough for them. I don’t know what that says about it, well you judge. There were some pieces that I really liked but it felt like scavenging gold from rocks, while reading the book it honestly felt like visiting Poems Porn’s Twitter page. It looked like a note or a very short journal entry. And some or most of the pieces were only a sentence long that it didn’t look like a poem for me. Next is the structure of the poems or pieces, I was sometimes confused if I were reading a new piece or if it was a continuation of the previous one because it didn’t have titles (some had but it was just a few). The aches in my arms still surprise me, even years after letting you go. I don’t know if it’s just me but I prefer deciphering the hidden messages within the metaphors and other figures of speech when I read poetry. That may be a good thing because the reader could easily understand the message of the poem, but it made it too easy to understand. The author used simple words, too simple words in my honest opinion. Here I am after all this time, hopelessly and madly in love with you. And I’m a pretty emotional reader, I remember crying my heart out while reading Milk and Honey because the pieces were hurting me in all the right places, but with this book the emotions were distant and it couldn’t quite reach me. The poems contained raw and real emotions but despite that, it didn’t really evoked any emotions in me. The thing that I love most about it, is that the “love” portrayed here is between two girls and it was such a plus because I rarely encounter published poetry collections about or with LQBTQIA+ themes. Pillow Thoughts is a collection of poems about love, heartbreak, and everything else in between. I like to read and write poetry from time to time, but I never reviewed a poetry book/collection before so this is definitely a first for me and I don’t know what I’m doing and just deal with my ramblings and I’m so sorry if it won’t be coherent enough.Īnyways, this book initially had me singing and thinking about Zayn whenever I read its title and just like with Pillow Talk- I’m seeing the pain, I’m seeing the pleasure while reading this. It is divided into sections to read when you feel you need them most. Pillow Thoughts is a collection of poetry and prose about heartbreak, love and raw emotions.
